Základním předpokladem výkonu samostatné lékařské praxe, výkonu funkce odborného zástupce, vedoucího lékaře a primáře ve zdravotnickém zařízení a lektora v lékařské praxi je skutečnost, že lékař je držitelem příslušné licence (osvědčení) o tom, že splňuje všechny podmínky, které jsou pro tento výkon závazně stanoveny. Orgánem, do jehož působnosti stanovení těchto podmínek stejně jako samotné vydávání licencí spadá, je Česká lékařská komora (ČLK). Klíčovým předpisem, který problematiku licencí a licenčního řízení komplexně upravuje, je Stavovský předpis ČLK č. 11 - Licenční řád (Licenční řád ČLK). Smyslem tohoto článku je seznámit čtenáře nejen s druhy, významem a podmínkami udělování licencí, ale objasnit mu i postup orgánů ČLK při jejich vydávání tak, aby se v případě podání vlastní žádosti o vydání licence mohl v problematice licenčního řízení co nejlépe orientovat a sám tak v rámci tohoto řízení postupovat co nejúčelněji-
